Auteur Theory

Tim Pope

The auteur theory describes that the film reflects the creative vision of the director.
Tim Pope shows his creative vision through his films in a way in which is apparent to the audience that is his influence. The music videos that Tim Pope has created for the bands like The Cure and The kasier chiefs shows his distorted and unique vision towards the story or meaning of the artists lyrics.

This video of The Cures 'friday I'm in love' shows how Tim Pope uses an unconventional way to create a scene or scenes for the video showing the backdrop changes and props changes within film simultaneously in the purposeful actions in the film, as if you would be in a theatre. The way in which the films changed throughout gives the disorderly fashion in which Tim Pope seems to prefer and can be Tim Popes idea of love it is fast paced and completely dis-functional. Tim Pope shows the life-line as it where for a couple life like the dinners, in bed and marriage which shows the audience the obvious message of 'love'.

Tim Pope makes a more apparent meaning to his creative vision as he perceives the lyrics as when love starts to fade it could be caused by a escape from a fearful situation e.g unplanned pregnancy. The skeleton scenes could be seen as a way of showing that we are only human. Tim Pope uses a clever concept to the lyrics of 'life is upon a wheel' of the rats are skeleton version as well to show that the man is similar to a rat possibly meaning his cowardice. The Kaiser Chiefs music video 'Everyday i love you less and less' shows Tim Popes creative vision more apparent then The Cures 'Friday I'm in love'.
